This month’s meeting was held at the Dallas Maker Space. This time is used for refurbishment and maintenance, as well as progress on new ships on the construction ways.
New Construction: Don and William laid out the cut lines on Don’s new USS South Dakota (BB-57). He will use the lines to cut the penetrable windows in the solid fiberglass hull form. These openings will be sheeted over with balsa, thus creating a hull that can be fired upon and sunk.
Maintenance: Justin and Jeff chased a “ghost glitch” in Justin’s new 100% 3D-printed HMS Tiger. The new version 2.0 distributed control board was suspected as the problem, but no—the issue did not manifest during the course of the day. No fault, no fix.
Refurbishment: Justin is providing new guns to arm Jeff’s Spanish dreadnought battleship, España. Some progress was made on that front, with new issues identified. Necessary adjustments will be in the works to come.
General Maintenance: Jerry and Mike spent some time wiring motors, pumps, and solenoid valves, adding connectors and plugs as necessary.
All in all, it was a productive day. Sadly, it would have been a beautiful day to be on the water—but this is December in Texas.
